West Clubs in EH Competitions (26.02.08)

In their first season as Exe Hockey Club (following the merger of Exmouth Hockey Club and Exeter Ladies Hockey Club), Exe Ladies 2nd XI have reached the final of the England Hockey 2nd XI Cup (this competition is open to all clubs who have a 1st XI participating in the Slazenger England Hockey League).

Having received a bye in the first round, Exe 2nds beat Reading 2nds 2-1 before recording a 3-2 victory in the Midlands away against Sutton Coldfield 2nds in the quarter finals. The Semi-final was a tight affair with Exe 2nds snatching a golden goal 1-0 victory at home to Trojans 2nds.

Exe 2nd XI have drawn home advantage for the Final against Loughborough University 2nd XI to be played at St Luke’s Science & Sports College, Harts Lane, Pinhoe, Exeter on Sunday 2 March – 1pm start – supporters are very welcome...

This Sunday is also a busy day for West Clubs who have progressed to the Quarter Final stage of other National Competitions:

> Men’s Trophy

Devizes travel to Banbury, Jersey travel to Henley
> Men’s Vase

Wimborne Wayfarers host Bramhall
> Men’s Vintage Cup

Good luck to all our Clubs – hopefully we’ll be reporting on their victories next week alongside details of fixtures for the following weekend.
